How Do You Write A Poem When You Are A Student?
I've got feelings.
And easily hurt one's at that.
Please don't hurt me.
I am a student.
I've got urges to write,
And urges to speak,
And urges to cry.
Please don't surpress me.
I am a student.
My heart to my friends when they need me.
And theirs to me when I need them.
My friends are the driving force in my life.
Please don't take them away from me.
I am a student.
Sometimes there are more important things than school.
More often than not, there are things that will set schoolwork aside.
Please don't punish me.
I am a student.
My teachers have an effect on me that no other human will.
They usually don't see when hurt me,
Or make a fool of me,
Or make me go home and sit in the silent company of myself.
Please don't mock me.
I am a student.
There are certain things you will not understand about me.
You probably never will.
Please don't make me feel like the difference in me are the wrong in me.
I am a student.
I don't always listen,
Or do what I am told.
But I always feel when something is wrong.
Please don't lie to me.
I am a student.
I may be young,
But I am not stupid.
Please don't humour me.
I am a student.
Your actions make me into the person I am.
Please don't yell at me.
I am a student.
I may be a minor,
But I have liberties, too.
Please don't belittle the rights they give me.
I am a student.
I have respect for you,
But not until you respect me.
Please don't disrespect me.
I am a student.
I don't always understand the things you do.
I probably never will.
Please don't make me feel dumb for the powers that aren't in me.
I am a student.
I want to learn and explore new things.
They may seem scary to you,
But I understand them.
Please don't question the curiosity in me.
I am a student.
Every negative action that my world bestows on me.
Makes me weak and want me to hide.
Please don't let me run from myself.
I am a student.
I don't always understand what I say.
Please don't scoff at me.
I am a student.
I do want freedom,
But so did you.
Please don't dismiss me for wanting to be free.
I am a student.
You were my age once.
Do you remember what it's like?
Please don't forget it.
I may be a student,
But I am a person.
