My Autobiography
My name is Tracy Johnson. I was born in West Covina, California on October 17, 1977 at 7:17 PM. I also have 7 ear piercings times 3. So, now you can see why seven is my lucky number. I was born to my parents Bob and Gail. At the age of two we moved to Greenwich, Connecticut to live with my father's parents. I have seen the photographs, but I can't remember that far back. About a year later we moved back to California. I can still remember the address in Camarillo. That's where my younger sister, Kim, was born. That is also where my memories begin. I can see myself sharing my Kewpie doll with my new baby sister, and riding our Bigwheel trikes down the hill in the front yard when she got big enough. Kim and I were also in Blue Birds Campfire group together. She looked up to me and mirrored everything I did. Whether it was my clothing, toys, or my new hairstyle, Kim had to have it too. Outwardly I was upset at my clone, but inwardly I was proud that my little sister wanted to be just like me. When she got to be about 8 or 9 she didn't want to be seen with me at school. I always thought it would have been neat to have an older sister at the same school. Then you get to hang out with the "older kids" and be cool. But she would have nothing to do with me in public. Now Kim is 22 and begining her career as a Chemist. We have become a lot closer and our friendship is something that means a great deal to me.
My brother was also born in Camarillo. He has always been a fun guy. Even though he's 18 now, he's still a great guy. He's thoughtful, fun, polite, and sensitive...well, most of the time. I guess it must be because he was raised with such wonderful sisters around all the time. It must have been our influence, right? I can't believe how quickly they grow up. It makes me feel so much older. He used to have a red 1966 Mustang. I used to help him restore it.
Later on we moved to Moorpark, California, then back to Connecticut, and now we're back in Moorpark. It's a pretty nice place. Things here sure have changed a lot. The population in Moorpark is about 27,000 people. It used to be a beautiful agricultural area, but now development has taken over. There are so many shopping centers. This is what happens when all the people who want to move away from the city move into small towns- they get bigger and bigger until it's a city, then they all want to move again. Go figure.
I live at home with my parents. That's the only way to go these days. It's so much more exspensive to move out on your own than it was for my parents and the generations before them.Because of my parents I am an honest, hardworking, and creative individual. I am an artist. I enjoy sketching, drawing, painting, photography, and computer art. I get that from my mother's genes. My mother was my spiritual donor and my father the technical donor. I have learned to appreciate life, in all forms, and understand the value of the hard-earned dollar. I have earned my Associate Degree in Art from Moorpark College and my Bachelor of Art in multimedia and Art from California Lutheran University. I aspire to have a sucessful, exciting career creating special effects for the entertainment industry.
Aside from art, I collect giraffes. Here is just part of my giraffe collection. I painted a mural of an African Savannah behind them so they feel at home. I am fascinated by giraffes. They are spectacular creatures- so beautiful, tall, and graceful. They're very unique. Even better that my collection of 86 giraffe figurines and statues is the real thing. Someday I plan to visit Africa to see my friend Angela, who lives in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, and to see the giraffes in their native land. I have discovered the greatest zoo there is, only it's not a zoo. It's the San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido, California. It's 35 miles north of downtown San Diego, California. The Wild Animal Park is unlike any zoo you've ever been to. The animals are not caged up. Instead they are in open areas with many other species that live together peacefully. It's a beautiful place. I'm a member of the San Diego Zoological society, so I visit the park several times a year. Since they are a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and display of endangered species, all food and merchandise purchases support the animals. It's a very worthwhile cause. That also gives me a good excuse to spend as much money as I can when I visit. I love all living creatures, not just giraffes. I have a creature or two of my own. I consider Hershey to be my daughter. That's really what it's like to have a dog. It's not just a pet, but a member of the family. I love my Hershey girl. Here she is getting ready for our trip to Lake Havasu for summer vacation in 1998. We had so much fun with her. Like most labs, she is a water dog and loves to swim. How about some Music?Sorry, but I haven't found the perfect music soundbytes I've been looking for yet (let me know of any great sites or suggestions you have), so how about some fun cartoon soundbytes? I love the Warner Brothers cartoon "The Animaniacs" and the clay animation shorts "Wallace and Gromit" from Nick Park. Here are some fun wav files for your ears' enjoyment. Want to create a web site of your own telling the world about you and what you like? You can! I'd like to give credit to this wonderful book I bought from Amazon.com that taught me all I needed to know to create this, my first web page, with pure HTML. I didn't use any kind of templates, HTML editor or HTML software program to create this COOL web site, just Windows Notepad. I highly recommend this book and CD set to anyone who wants to learn HTML so that you too can make your own web pages with ease. It's called "Create Your First Web Page In a Weekend". This site took me just over a week to set up because I spent the time to plan out a multi-page site and prepare all of my images. I'm always changing and adding on to it, too! The rest was pretty easy once I had my blueprints drawn out. I say, "Get it and be happy!" Another place where credit is due is to the source for just about all of the GIF animations I used in creating my web site. If you're looking for tons of clipart and animations to add to your pages, check out Barry's Clipart.
Well, that's it for my Autobiography and Favorites page. There's still more for you to explore if you're up to it.
My favorite exhibit is the Heart of Africa. It's like visiting another land. The animals are free to roam with others just like they would in nature. They form their own groups and herds, too. The Wild Animal Park has had great success with breeding their endangered species. Other unique attractions are a 55 minute monorail tour around the entire park, Hidden Jungle where you walk through gardens of flowers and butterflies,
a Congo Fishing Village, a petting zoo with unique animals, educational shows, Lorikeet Landing where you can feed the lorikeet birds, and more. I encourage any one willing to make the trip to visit the park. The best feature is their Photo Caravan tours through the Heart of Africa enclosures. You get to ride in an open-bed truck through the interior of the park. You will feed the giraffes and rhinos and get some great photos, too! You also get a closer, more personal experience with the animals. I've been on the caravan tour three times and can't wait until I can go again.
