Be What You'll Be: Sally's Dream Continued

Scene two:Sally and Frankenstein Guy are sitting in an RV in a fold
out double bed.

Pete sings:
"Sally couldn't rest until she knew if Nora could be saved
Her dreams showed Nora white and still dreaming of the grave
Tommy's mother wasn't dead, but very close to dying
The doctors had given her up for good, shaking their heads and sighing.
Sally saw Nora in her bedroom mirror, clothed in angel white
Nora was convinced she'd played her part and could slip into the night"

Nora stands seemingly in an empty grey space of nowhere, clothed
in a soft white robe, her face for once free of all makeup, her body
of all adornments save the simple gown. She seems peaceful,
happy, but somehow something is wrong...she seems to be trying
to convince someone of something.

Nora sings:
"My mother loving was all I gave him What more could anyone need?
I loved and cared for him for years and then when he was freed
I let him stand where he should be Within the spotlights glow
Tommy had the answers The world needed to know...."

Sally appears standing in front of Nora, sings:
"Your son Tommy is just a person like any other person.
His eyes don't hold the oceans secrets
  His hands can't bring salvation.
  You think you're a saviour's mother
But you are just a woman
Who loves her son a little too well
  And believes in his perfection."

Nora:
"When Tommy was deaf dumb and blind
I wanted to save his soul.
If I could reach him he'd be saved,
  He'd be healed and whole.
It was all my fault that he retreated
  deep into his mind
I had to give my life to his
to save him from my crime.
When I smashed the mirror that day,
I took back all I'd done
Tommy was free and made of light
And he shone just like the sun."

Sally:
"Tommy's no saint, he's just a sinner
  just like you and me.
He's got no magic formula to save humanity.
He believed for a while he could save the world
  from being just like him
But he found that no one wants to think
  that they can sin
They'd rather be deaf dumb and blind
Than think their hearts are darkened.
The ocean of tears in Tommy's eyes
  Can't wash away their falseness."

Nora:
"Who are you anyway? You don't understand.
  You're not our family.
No one asked you to come here patronising me.
I must speak with Tommy one last time,
  before I leave forever.
That's why I wait in this strange place
with a love time cannot sever."

Nora lays down seemingly on nothing, and closes her eyes.
The scene of a hospital room fades in around her until we see
she is sleeping in a hospital bed, obviously in a coma. Frank sits by her side.
Frank, to Sally who sits at the other side of the bed:
"If Tommy had been the messiah
he'd have the power of resurrection,
Not only sleep, but death itself
  could not stand against him.
But when the world turned against us
  Tommy ran away from reason
I can see that all this time
  Tommy was just a person."

Sally:
"Nora believed in miracles and her faith was rewarded.
Her son spoke and saw again and heard her say she loved him
But Tommy didn't make that miracle Tommy is only human."

Scene fades and Sally is sitting in the bed of the RV, her head
against her husband's shoulder. She traces a path on the
map spread out on the bed.

Sally:
"Wherever they are that's where we'll go
I just know I have to find them.
My part is to be what I will be
If I can only unwind it."
