These cartoons and illustrations are among some that I did for the Mornin' Mail, a free local four-page newspaper. I did artwork from dec 92 to nov 93. It was good experience in what I could expect from an editor or publisher (having work picked over, altered or lost), but I wasn't getting paid. When I was doing work for the Mornin' Mail the publisher told me of a lady who wanted a weekly comic strip in the paper and she was willing to pay for it. All I knew was that The hero's name was Ace Spailien, and that it had to do with aliens from space. So I did some sample strips and brought them to her. After looking things over she grabbed one strip and anointed it funny. In fact she said "just this panel alone is funny, if we run it one week and then run the next panel all next week, and then the last one all the following week..." Of everything she said, it was actually her best idea.
