Seagulls at Galveston Bay, Texas
By Roberto Burgos
Shot January 1990, with Pentax AF35S Point & Shoot, with Kodak Gold 200
print film. We were traveling around Galveston when we found the
ferry boats. We boarded and made the 20 min. trip only to find out there is
nothing on the other side.
On the way back, we noticed the seagulls flying very close to the ferry
boat, and a strong head wind help the birds keep about the same speed.
Some people started throwing crackers and food debris to the birds,
which they catched mid flight. So my wife grabbed a bag of cheetos and
joined the group...
When I saw what was going on, I grabbed my P&S and noticed only two
frames left. I flipped the flash open (for fill purposes) and shot both
frames. Later developed at the local Walgreens and see what I got.
I beleive this pic is the perfect combination of many factors at the
same time:
1) Getting lost in Galveston
2) Strong head wind
3) Camera available
4) Cheetos available
5) fill flash available
6) GOOD LUCK...
The last one being the most important one..
Can I repeat it... No way!
By the way, the scan is from the actual 4x6 from Walgreens... Now I
have a beautifull 24 x 30 enlargement of this pic in my living room.
