This list is by no means complete!
A strong personal bias for UK psych and American
country/folk-rock will be evident. Also, some
brilliant material from other genres has been omitted
(such as some excellent Motown, e.g. the Four Tops'
"REACH OUT" LP).
This is not a nod of approval for CD's,but....
With the CD age, many re-issues of long out-of-print
rarities have at last become available to the masses.
Also, some previously unreleased material has at last
come out of the vaults in recent years (yes, yes!!)
Many bands released BRILLIANT material on singles only,
hence this album list won't include ARNOLD LAYNE, SEE
EMILY PLAY, PICTURES OF LILY, NIGHT OF FEAR, LET'S SPEND
THE NIGHT TOGETHER/RUBY TUESDAY, WE LOVE YOU/DANDELION,
and scores more essentials. Although it spoils a
bit of the "magic" not to have the original 7" singles
and EP's, DO round these up on later compilations/
greatest hits releases! And of course, there were no
shortage of legendary releases in December '66 and
January '68, but this is just a listing of some 1967
classics. {And admittedly they weren't all recorded
in '67, e.g. Tim Hardin's second album...the key word is
