Large Halos Disappear?

Brandon Berg has difficulty with halos: I'm having problems doing spherical halos larger than a unit or two.  If I set the transmit for the colors to anything less than 1, then they appear completely solid, and if I set them to 1, they disappear.  Smaller than that, they're okay...I could probably just do it at 1 unit, and then scale it up, but it seems that there should be a better way.  Any ideas what might be happening?

Philippe Mazan knows the answer:
Yes, that's right. POV-Ray gives to a halo a radius from 0 to 1. (POV-Ray doc, chapter 7.6.4.1).  POV-Ray doc chapter 7.6.4.4 says : Halo container objects ought to be unit sized objects centered at the origin.

After, you can scale and translate your object.

The density is calculated from the radius 1 or less (by scale < 1 on halo).  Radius > 1 gives incorrect values for other parameters and gives strange results.
