The Gabby Award

A Behind the Scenes Look

A couple of weeks before the ROCstock Summer Festival was to end, the Co-Laird (Leader) of Clan MacConnor, Buckeye, presented me the idea of creating a special award for this event! I couldn't refuse such an honor, so I quickly went to work. Based on the Emmy Award, the Gabby Award was to become my favorite ROCstock accomplishment! Now, I'm proud to present a sneak peek at the creative process behind this fun award...

Here's a quick look at the early inking and coloring stages!

Gabby Award inked sketch    Preliminary coloring

Once the main drawing was inked, it went to good old Photoshop for the full color treatment! This was tricky, as each part (Head, arms, boots, staff, BGSB, skirt, etc.) was it's own individual piece. The complete award consisted of approximately 30 pieces that took several hours to color! Like I said, tricky...but the final product was very rewarding!

And here's a close-up look at the finished award!
