PLIGHT OF AN EAGLE
Why do I feel an unease
being forced
to fly faster than a breeze?
Why won't the spirits
quit hounding me?
Why can't I be just a --Turkey?

A turkey doesn't feel the need
to forge ahead,
seems content
as an end
to be stuffed with bread.
While an eagle must be regal
and fly above the rest
Never satisfied with feet upon the ground.
She's compelled to test, to search,
then soar into the sun.
