This highly self critical artist worked for years on each painting
and seldom signed them.
At age eleven [!] she was admitted to art school, and at 18
she studied and worked in France, England and Italy.
After a few years as teacher at the Finnish academy around
1900,
she withdrew to the countryside, where she lived and worked
rather isolated from friends and collegues till her death some
forty years later.
