From the 12th century the ancient republic of Amalfi became famous for the manifacture of paper. this manifacture perhaps of Arab origin (bacause the Arabs imported and spread in west the use and the manifacturing of paper wiche they learnt from the Chineses) flourished until the end of 18th century. |

| The Confalone paper-mill is a five floors building, 10 meters in length, which bars the valley.
The part of building in the picture was perhaps the paper drier. |
