La fabbrica di Fellni

The factory of "Meccanica Romana" stands in a very attractive zone, near the archaeological site of Ostia Antica, within the "Seaboard Park".

	It was built in the twenties to make agricultural machinery. During the last world war the Breda Company used it to make war machinery, but from the end of the
	war to 1979, the year of closure, it
	resumed its original activity. The pictures of the factory were taken in the early eighties, when the sad decline typical of every abandoned building set in.

In 1989 Federico Fellini filmed here the finale of his film "La voce della luna".

At the end of 1999 the building has been restored by a company and now it gives hospitality to 14 spaces for cinema and also videogames, bowling, restaurants and shops.

But a so beautiful building should have deserved a better utilization, as the municipality has done in the power station "Giovanni Montemartini" and in the beer factory "Peroni", two sites of industrial archaeology which have been restored and reconverted to very beautiful museums.
