The Awakening

by Shea White

The thought crossed her mind
How could she be so blind?
The blade is sharp, the water is warm.
She swiftly lowers into the water, clutching her hands,
Why, OH why are there so many demands?
The mother instincts came out when she hears her baby crying,
Once again she just feels like dying!
Her hands shaking and her body aching,
She says her time has come to stop aching.
The baby screams out in fear of being alone,
His mother can't hear... she's in her zone.
She puts the blade to her wrist
No longer can she resist.
In one quick slash
Blood sprits from the gash.
Soon she starts to feel faint,
She starts to pray she'll see her Saint.
Just then the face of God appears,
She runs to him filled with tears.
He tells her it isn't time,
He believes in her, she'll be just fine.
Once she wakes up
She feels all shaken up.
She said she'd seen the face of God,
And that she wanted to see her baby Todd.
She told him she loved him and that it'd always be that way.
She promised him that she'd always stay,
And that he too would see God one day!
