My life alive

by Jeremy D. Pavleck

as the shroud of death encircles me
extinguishingmy last, small breath
i remember the DAY of happiness
but most of my days I wept
I wept for the world
cried for my sins
teared for my anguish
and ran from my fears
and as I lay now
on this cold, concrete floor
and the tentacles grasp about
my life, alive, soon, no more
