I create visual poetry using handmade paper and found objects such as rusty metal and nails, clay dirt and ashes. I consciously and subconsciously reclaim bits and pieces of nature and society that have been discarded or overlooked.
Making art, for me, is about connecting with myself, trusting my instincts, letting the anger and pain in body, mind and soul that is screaming to be released bleed into my consciousness, mesh with my wit and absorb into the materials. When I break through my own barriers and let this happen, it provides an intuitive work that is the residue of the process.
At showings of my work people often ask me if I have frightening dreams. I answer, I live in a frightening reality.
