I. Topicality
- What kind of stories can be posted?
Any stories dealing with slash (see the web site for a definition of slash) and kink (I define Kink broadly, see the rules/FAQ section of the web page for specific examples.)
- Can I post stories with minors?
Yes, but they MUST carry a disclaimer to that effect. You can be booted from the list for posting unlabeled minor fic.
- Can I post Actor Slash?
Actor slash (slash stories involving the actor or actors rather than the characters they portray) may be posted to the list, as long as it carries a disclaimer, an example of which appears below. The disclaimer does not need to be verbatim, but must carry the basic
idea. Also note, actor fic with minor actors is more likely than either minor fic or actor slash to call down the lightning, so you might want to think twice, but I'm not banning it outright.
EX: This story is a fantasy. It is not intended to speculate on the true sexual orientation or activities of XXXXX or YYYYY.
- Can I post non-kinky slash?
No. There are plenty of lists where your stories can find a home.
- Can I post non-slash kink?
If you want to post non-slash kink (i.e., either het or not using preexisting characters, but does focus on some kind of kink), I'm currently going to allow it, assuming it would still be of interest to members. If I discover that most posters would rather not have it, or if we get so much it changes the tenor of the list, I'll cut it.
I. Format
- Size of Files
Stories of less than 25k should be posted as one post. Stories should never be sent as attachments. For stories of more than 25k, stories should be broken into files of 20-25k and sent out individually, with part #s labelled (e.g., 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3). Parts of less than 15k (unless the last part has to be short), or more than 30k will probably receive a request to reformat from the ListDaddy.
- Prefatory Material
You should use the following format at the beginning of each story. (This format is shamelessly stolen from SXF, adapted for my own purposes.

- The Archiving Options
- Places the story can be archived
There are two ways your story can be made available after it's posted to the list:
- The private archive at FindMail. This archive is a list of all posts, discussion and fic, on the list. It is available only to current members.
- The public archive at the SlashKink site. This is a generally available archive. This is the only place non-members can find your story.
- How can I get the story where I want it available?
The first line of your post should be an archiving request. In one instance, it is VITAL that this be the very first line. The Archiving options, listed by the text that should appear in the post, are:
- Archive:public
This will go on the private Makelist archive as well as the public SlashKink-web site archive.
- Archive:private
This will go only into the private Makelist archive, accessable only by registered SlashKink members.
- X-No-Archive: yes
This line insures that it will appear nowhere other than current member's mailboxes. Unlike the other options, this one is detected and acted on directly by the server. Hence it's different format. This is the one that MUST be the first line. Also, unlike the others, it must be the first line of EACH PART of the story, or the Makelist archive will contain parts 2-the end.
- Can I remove stories from the Makelist archive after the fact?
Yes. The http://www.findmail.com site has an option which will allow you to remove your own messages from the server.
The Archivist says:
If your story is more than one email long, put a note at the bottom of each part notifying the reader it is the end of that section. Ex: End, Part 1/3
Any stories sent should be in text form. No 'other' characters. Please be careful of your line lengths. If you need help posting, email the archivist. All stories will be added to the archive unless you say otherwise.
If you make the stories into parts then post them on the list please also send the entire story in one txt format document to MarbleHrt@hotmail.com . All stories will be uploaded in txt and html form.
The Webmaster says:
Verify your story listing in the SlashKink website archive.I don't read every story that comes in. I don't know every fandom so if I miss something about your story please let me know. If you want something changed e-mail me. Put Attn: Webmaster in the subject line of your message.
