Another road trip with Beau on a cold, crisp winter morning. When we plan these trips into the mountains, our usual practice is to rise very early so as to catch the first light. The best negatives in B&W are made before the sun has a chance to fully show itself or after it starts going down.
At Long Lake the week before Memorial day. I had the campground and all the mountains, rivers, and lakes all to myself. A wonderful way to spend a vacation............just me and my camera.
Another road trip with Beau was four days into the Lake Colden area by way of Marcy Dam. Notice that even as late as May there are still patches of snow and ice in the Adirondack High Peaks.
The South Face of Poko-Moonshine Mountain rises more than 500 feet above the valley around it as one solid rock. The mountain was sacred ground to the early inhabitants of the area. More recently, it is a popular place for rock and ice climbers as well as hikers and the occasion pair of falcons which are now returning to the region.
