In the Adirondacks, as on the rest of the earth, one of the main components of life is water. Nature has performed a complete purification of this life giving substance for as long as the planet has existed. In this day of cut, raze and build we have managed to all but destroy the natural system and in it's place are attempting to create substitute treatments that, day to day, are proving to be totally inadequate.
No place shows us more graphically what we are doing to ourselves and our environment like the places we have set aside to try to preserve a piece of the original system. Even here there is much evidence of depletion and corruption and is the best we now have.
