This watercolor study was painted as part of a beginning painting course taken at John A. Logan College. Our teacher took us out to the boat docks at Crab Orchard Lake, not far from the college, to paint.

After high winds and a sudden storm ruined two of my other acrylic studies, I decided that I would stick to watercolor for outdoor sketching. Painting in acrylics involved just too much bulky equipment to mess around with when I also had to fight the weather. It was so much easier to simply pop open my watercolor travel kit and get to work instead of having to wrestle with tubes and pallette.
