Shortly afterward, I received another request for an illustration for a different story to appear in that same issue. After some thought, I settled upon this landscape, creating a feeling of the immensity of the journey before the protagonists without spoiling any of the story.
This dragon was originally done as an exercise in an art class, but it seemed to belong here more than in my Fine and Academic Art pages.
Sometimes the drawings just seem to happen, as was the case with this interlocking set of fanciful images. I was attending a rather boring lecture to obtain extra credit for a class, and while I was taking notes in my sketchbook, I started doodling. Although I originally thought of the resultant images as nothing more than idle scribbles, a friend noticed that they formed an interesting composition, so I decided to display them.
"Spacer's Pet" started as a doodle in the margin of a notebook, then took on a life of its own.
