What is this piece doing in the still-life category instead of being with landscapes?
Actually, it isn't a landscape at all, but a still-life set up by our instructor in beginning drawing at John A. Logan College. The monitor lizard is actually a very lifelike replica, not a real lizard at all. The tree branches came out of the still-life cabinet in the studio and were set up on a table to create a lifelike surroundings for the lizard.
I subsequently exhibited this ink-wash drawing with crow-quill pen detailing in John A. Logan College's fall art show.
