As a very visual person, I often enjoy drawing pictures of people I particularly admire. Pictures of Turner are few and far between, since he believed that his unprepossessing appearance would diminsh the value of his work. However, I have let my imagination "fill in the blanks"
These two quick portraits come from one of my sketchbooks. "Puggy" was his nickname while he was living incognito with Sophia Caroline Booth
I also drew a picture of him sitting out in the landscape, busy drawing.
This picture was part of a series I did as a final exam for a course in two-dimensional design at John A. Logan College. The intrusive dragon from "Turner's Cup" inspired this scene, "Hi There," in which a sleepy/hung-over Turner stares at a tiny dragon perched on his coffeecup.
This is a somewhat less flattering image of Turner, hunched over a cup of rum as his heavily-shrouded housekeeper, Hannah Danby, goes to chase away an unwanted visitor at the door.
I have also done some drawings of Turner as a furry, or anthropomorphic animal. That man was definitely a badger.
I am currently accepting commissions for artwork. If your interested in having me do something, please Back to the essay on Turner
