To the Man I Admire Most~My Dad

There are so many things I am thankful for...
For the various places we traveled when I was small,
Memories of camping clubs and summer places one and all.
The lessons you've taught are with me still,
Each one left it's mark, teaching me to always do my best,
And give those valuable lessons to my own children I will.
What I love the most my dear ol Dad,
Is your honesty ,& the wonderful gifts you've given me...
A sense of pride and strong will I see in you...
It's those very same things that you've given me too.
Our days of sharing coffee, and idle chit chat...
I miss those quiet times, and smile thinking of just that.
There are so many things I long to say...
I'd have to write a book to express them in every way,
Just know this ...I love you so,& think of you every day
I'm proud to say you're my father...
Even prouder yet, the priveledge of being your daughter

On Eagles Wings

With each new sunrise one thing stands clear...
It's a feeling that happens once in a lifetime
The joy of sharing quiet moments having you near...
So many things in such a short time you've given
And yet never expecting anything in return...
I cherish each of these gifts you've brought to my life
Honesty, trust and each of life's lessons I learn...
The things you have shown me and places we traveled
Your spirit like that of an eagle so noble to me...
Courage and peace you give always unrelenting
With the freedom you've given the best is yet to be...
Through it all you've stayed by my side
Never faultering over even the hardest things...
Something you've given realized or not
The feeling of soaring on an eagle's wings in flight...

Roads to Unravel

As you're out there on the roadways
In that metal steed of royal blue...
I wonder if you're alright every moment
Counting the days and hours until I see you...
I know you're out there somewhere
Beneath the south and northern skies...
Wishing I could be there at your side
One thing is simple, hearts can tell no lies...
The absence is sometimes hard to take
Quiet surroundings we must bear...
I'm sending in an angel for safety's sake
To guide and protect you when I can not be there...
No matter how many moments, hours or days
My heart following along behind you...
Each and every step of those roadways
My traveler,I love you more than life...
I never thought it was possible to feel
So connected to someone so far away...
In my mind the roar of your wheels
Invade the silence beckoning me...
I miss you during those travels
Home is where I wish you were...
Instead of on the many roads to unravel .

Wishful Thinking

Remember back in time when you were small...
Daydreams and pretending was part of it all
Laughter and silly whispers all made in fun...
At the water's edge skipping rocks in the sun
School days brought lessons and much more...
Friendships to gain and homework galore
Soon turning into autumn changes in the air...
So many shades of colors trees soon looking bare
Always something to do no matter what the season...
Next came Christmas a favorite with good reason
Time for get togethers celebrating holiday cheers...
Memories lasting through out the years
As snowflakes tumbled the ground painted white...
A lovely frost envisioned all sparkling and bright
Winter frolic included making angels and men out of snow...
Warm weather just ahead with spring's sudden show
Kalidescopes bursting as the flowers begin thier array...
Sweet are the grasses and the blooms of trees displayed
Through spring's graceful splendor no matter how old...
Summer brings childlike abandon a treasure to hold
Time after all seems to pass us by all too quick...
Wishfully wanting to go back as the clock does tick
Life's greatest lesson the one that some tend to miss...
Enjoy all you have and take time to savor life's bliss.

In Memory of Grandpa

His way of laughing would light up his face...
So quick with a joke, anytime, any place
His gift to make us smile with the simple things...
A Craftsman he was and the wooden toys he would bring
His hobby was in that little cellar workshop...
Spending hours full of love, never wanting to stop
He made crafts by the dozens for our Tuesday nights...
Family and laughter, till it was time to turn off the lights
Oh how we cherished a sweet wooden gift...
Made by those hands, gives the heart a little lift
Grandpa felt family was most important of all...
Dinners together, visits, paint party night, a phone call
He loved those the most, cause family is dear...
The stories and harmonica we all loved to hear
Simple times at the diningroom table we all shared...
Crosswords, playing Boggle, or cards as long as we dared
At Gramma's and Grandpa's we all loved to stay...
For a love so special at any time, come night or day
Grandpa may be gone now, but the love still does remain...
We still visit Gramma and Grandpa's house sunshine or rain.

The Haunting of The Trees

Nightfall travels across the trees...
In which only the pure of heart can truly hear or see
Creatures of the night come out and play...
For the others, they just scurry away
The true at heart can feel the love...
Radiating through the night like the moon above
Bitter souls they can not see...
But black of night, no beauty like we
They feel no harmony no music from the wood...
Lost souls no longer feeling the good
Blinded by anger they closed thier eyes...
No longer hearing the animals songs and cries
The pure at heart appreciates the life...
The wicked will only cut it deep like a knife
No seeker of beauty they cannot see...
Earth has such charm and life full of bounty
Twilight beckons through the night...
Warms the soul this burst of light...
The animals sense it or run in fright
Because of the intruder they may heed...
A sense of love, or hatred's seed
Into the forrest they shall flee...
Warned by the wind, and the haunting of the trees.
