Welcome to NAS Patuxent River!! The weather is cool to cold so dress appropriately.  My name is Kim Gilbert and I work for the Housing Welcome Center which is located on your right after the airplane museum when you arrive at base gate 2.  I am here to help you in any way that I can.  Let me answer some of the questions that military members pcsing out have been asking.

I need a current copy of your page 2, a complete and signed application, a copy of your orders and your detaching endorsement in order to put you on the housing list.  The only thing that I can wait on is the det. endors. but you must bring that in upon arrival at Pax.  All of your correspondence may be done over the fax and my # is 342-4823 and that is my commerical and dsn line.

Officers are looking at a 3-9 month wait for Shepard Terrace which are the apartment style units and the wait for the gold coast is cuurently undetermined.

All enlisted:  (3/4 bdrm eligible)1-3 months for Conrad Heights, Lovell Court,Chaffee Court, and
                  Solomons 6-12 months for Glenn Forest.
                  (2 bdrm eligible)3-6 months for Shepard Terrace, 6-12 months Glenn Forest.
* Carpenter Park (3/4 bdrm)is under renovation and are being rented out as they become available.  All of these times are tentative and in the case of Glenn Forest could be longer, it depends on members prd dates and they are subject to change.

E-1 through E-6 are assigned units based upon their number of dependents including their spouse.
E-7 and up qualify for an extra bedroom.

We give priority housing to those who have family members with disabilities and they are reviewed first by the director.  That family's name would then go into the top 10 percent on the waiting list.  We do not give priority housing to single parents or pregnant members living in the BOQ.  Military members who are living in the BOQ and are expecting will not be given housing until the baby is born and on their page 2.  If a current family has another child and wishes to move to a larger unit they must resubmit another application along with a physician's note confirming pregancy then they will go to the bottom of the list that they are eligible for.

For those who are looking for housin gin the community, our office has a full-time referral specialist to answer any questions and assist.  We have a workind database with local area apartment complexes, realtors, and homes for sale and rent by private owner.  There is also a TIPS machine located in the lobby that is updated every aThursday to fine tune a specific search (i.e. home, waterfront, 110-1245 rent with 3 bedrooms).  We have maps and brochures of sites on base and in Maryland worth visiting as well as the Tester.

In November we opened up our community center which has various rooms fot military members to utilize for their recreational needs.  The cost is free and it is first come first serve.

Next to the office is our new self-help building that will house lawnmowers, paint, weed eaters etc to help with your needs.
