AUSTRALIA, the first time
October 12 - November 3, 2003
The Wayward Bus group, in front of Uluru (Ayers Rock).
Kings Canyon.
The Canadian gals at Kings Canyon.
At Uluru for sunset.
Uluru, at sunrise.
Various close-ups of Uluru.
Most areas are sacred, thus forbidden to photograph. It was hard to tell when an area was no longer sacred, but I did my best to only photograph allowed spots.
Everyone took the path around Uluru at their own pace & some of us ran into each other at this picturesque spot.
Approaching Kata Tjuta (The Olgas).
At Kata Tjuta.
By the time we hiked back out of Kata Tjuta, the rangers had closed the trail due to extreme temperatures.
Sunset, and goodbye, in the red center.
Some interesting trees, up near Cape Tribulation.
My feet, during the "jungle surf."
Licking a green ant's bum. Tasted like lemon.
Anyone who knows me realizes that this is a huge deal for me. I have major issues with anything that has more than 4 limbs.
Apparently the Aborigines would scoop out the green ants' nest & make a vitamin C rich tea from it.
One of the guys I met jungle surfing.
Taking a break while kayaking around Cape Tribulation.
The beach at the Cape Tribulation resort.
This is a stone's throw from where I encountered the wild pig.
The gorgeous Tasmania coastline.
Feeding a wallaby (with her joey) at the Tasmanian Devil park.
Said Devils.
The incomparable Boat Harbour Beach.
In front of a blow hole.
Wineglass Bay.
More stunning Tassie coastline.
The bushwalk around Dove Lake, at Cradle Mountain.
The chilly Cradle Mountain.
MORE TO COME:
I'm missing the CD's for 3 rolls of film from Australia, and will update sometime after getting back to Chicago.
