The Progressive Underground was dedicated to exposing/promoting new & independent
progressive rock, space rock, and related experimental music.

MY MISSION AS A PROGRESSIVE ROCK DJ:

I am passionate about progressive rock, and am keen to the fact that most of the
prog that gets commercial airplay is limited to only a few greats: Genesis, Jethro Tull,
ELP and Yes. The so-called "Dinosaurs" of prog rock/classic rock.
I AM FED UP WITH THE HOMOGENOUS CLAUSTERPHOBIA OF COMMERCIAL RADIO!
By volunteering as a DJ at WRUV hosting The Progressive Underground, I AM DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
My mission is to bring you the stuff you may not have heard about. Stuff that has little
chance of getting commercial airplay and usually cannot be found on major labels. I also spin
classic prog that is not as well known, or has had little-to-no exposure in the USA.

FINAL TPU SHOW OF 1998 was on Monday Sept 14, 3-6pm
I am busy, busy, busy and moved a thousand miles away. Hopefully I can
revive the show on a different station at some future point.

I've invested about $2000 in a mobile DJ system, so I'm well-equipped to DJ parties. The genres
I'll be covering are progressive rock, space rock, disco, dance/trance/techno, oldies,
classic rock, classical, experimental/noise/avant-garde and jazz/fusion, breakbeat,
chill, acid jazz, funk, ambient, and lots else. So if you're in Southern Florida
(or are willing to pay me to travel somewhere far from Southern Florida) and would
like a DJ at your party, drop me an e-mail. I have reasonable rates and am house trained.

Alan Paul and GUITAR WORLD MAGAZINE - In the January 1999 issue of
GUITAR WORLD MAGAZINE Alan Paul wrote an article about the present underground
prog scene. What a great article! The prog scene of today is amazingly vibrant. Cultish and
fanatical, but vibrant. We're a crazy bunch, us prog fanatics, dancing and nodding
our heads to 7/13 time signatures and floating on lyrics about rocks, trees, super novas and
metaphysical argonautics.
