good arangement of pictures of quite possibly the most beautiful and pedestrian community of central-western north carolina. If only Winston Salem could continue to build and plan in this scale....

Friends: I have been off line for a year and the site is badly in need of updating. Having changed browsers and email address I am unable so far to retrieve my password. As soon as I do I will be doing work on this project. In the meantime I am rebuilding at the U L listed above and you are invited to visit and change the link address if needed. Thanks for all your fine comments and support. Let me hear from you! Harold

The tour through the Old Salem gallery was extremely nostalgic for me. I lived in W-S for 18 months during '93 & '94 and spent many calm and restful hours wandering the streets of Old Salem with my brand new camera (and brand new hobby). Thank you, imme sely, for posting these pictures! Even now, living in South Africa, you have afforded me the opportunity to visit a place in which I found so much solace! Thank you!

Dear Harold: One of my co-workers at Old Salem brought your site to my attention. While we certainly have no objection to the site, there are a few details in terms of accuracy in naming and dating that we would like to clear up. If it is possible for you to make cor ections to the site relatively easily, perhaps you could E-mail me with your own E-mail address and I could share a few minor corrections with you? First and foremost would be our founding date, which is 1766, not 1776.

Hello, Mr. Siterlit, I am a first grade teacher at West Elementary School in Jefferson City, MO. My e-mail address is my classroom computer's. My husband and I are not connected to the internet on our home computer. I greatly enjoyed your site. My husband & I visited Winston-Salem last summer. We had a wonderful visit. We are particularly interested in the Moravians and their history & church. We found all the people of Winston-Salem to be most gracious and intere ting. (Two years ago during the Christmas holidays we visited Bethlehem,PA.) This summer we are attending the Moravian Music Festival in Millersville, PA. We are very excited about it, too. Your site was a refreshing find for me at the end of a busy school day. I'm so glad I "fell" upon it. Please respond if you so wish. My husband & I will be retiring in 5- 8 years from teaching. Sincerely, Linda

Mr. H.M.Siterlit. I am a direct descendant of The Butner Family from Old Salem. The family has a house and a hat shop. I was hoping to see pictures of these buildings on your site! Is there any way I could have some taken or do you have some already? am currently researching my family. My Butner descendant left Old Salem for two years, because the hat shop wasn't making money. He went to Indiana, only to return and run the Salem Tavern. I work for MSN's genealogy community and would appreciate any information.
