Kitchen Floor

While waiting for the new kitchen cabinets to be fabricated we had the new floor installed in the kitchen, family room, utility room and two bathrooms. We used a new material, a Formica laminate. It is made of 2 foot tongue-and-groove squares. We chose a tile pattern. It looks like tile but is not hard like tile.

This is the dinette area. It is prepared for carpeting.

The family room and kitchen had the old particle board surface removed.

A foam underlayment is in place

The half bath floor has been stripped and the toilet removed

The saw and supply truck are set up in the driveway in front of the garage

A crew of three put the new floor down

A sealer was used in the tongue and groove joints

Straps were used to pull the joints tight

This is it, from the family room looking toward the kitchen

Reverse view, from kitchen to family room

Looks pretty good. With 1 ft squares it is easy to measure the room

The pattern is a tile pattern called "Satillo"
