What have I been up to musically?

Latest Recording Project News Flash:

DIMTHINGSHINE - TALES FROM LIMBOLAND

Status on official release: Currently shopping for a home on Indie Label.

The first official Dimthingshine recording (in 16 years) just completed early January 2008. It includes collaborations with Paul Lemos (Controlled Bleeding), Astro (Hiroshi Hasegawa) with his power electronics, Brian Bridges with his microtone wav form experiments.

"I consider this the follow up to my last release in 1992. It has the same aggressive energy and sonic emotional timbres. Dark horror show mixed with humor, rebellion, and revolution."

The music combines surreal interludes, musique-concrete, industrial avant-garde/rock/beat, Zappaesque sweeps, Bali/Tibetan themes, odd free form improvisations, referential associations, and shear madness.

Dimthingshine “Alive In the Crypt” has finally been made available on CD from Thingsflux Music label: See CD Releases for Sale.

I am re-releasing Dimthings & Dimthingshine recordings on CD from the Thingsflux Music Label: See CD Releases for Sale

I played on three tracks of the new ”To Live and Shave in L.A” CD/LP (forthcoming) recorded at Sonic Youth studio in Hoboken, NJ in August 2007.

I am on 1 track (as Dimthingshine) playing percussion on the recent CD release (2005) by Robert Horton for his project called Future Ears - Free Jazz Copy? Noise. See review below:

“The music is pounding metal/rock/noise submerged in a gloop of electric toothbrushes, bowed whatevers, computers, trumpets, flutes, a bunch of free-blowing saxophonists - Dan Plonsey, Henry Kuntz – and some liberated fists on the skins: Gino Robair, Dimthingshine and Doug ‘Moonshine’ Jin. On The Yellow Swans own label.”

Other musical projects under different artist names:

I am using the evolving artist name “Dimthingshineon” as a new outlet for alternative rock style music. I have recently finished recording more songs than I can fit on a CD. It is in my own style with elements of my past leanings but emphasis on strong lyrics and diverse rock styles including classic rock to metal.
I have a couple of Dimthingshineon web sites at:
www.geocities.com/dimthingshineon And www.myspace.com/dimthingshineon

During this current decade (2000) I have been doing world music, trance drumming, healing, vocal toning music under artist name “Mejdaji” and released several CD’s. I have a couple of Mejdaji web sites at:
www.geocities.com/mejdaji And www.myspace.com/mejdaji

I plan to get involved in film making and film soundtracks in the near future.   I had started a script that has been put on hold. Instead of just writing some screenplay / scripts I want to work on creating some music videos for the Music of Dimthingshine.  Will get involved in creating a full feature length film next. This is obviously a large project and will take sometime to actually materialize.

Past information:

In 1995 there was a very short lived Roll 'N Pinz reunion. I am on the Bad Boy Butch Batson CD called "Spare Parts" released in 1998. It is like no other CD you own. Send an email to  heywardbatson@yahoo.com  if you are interested in purchasing a copy.  In 1999 I played in a few local alternative rock oriented bands. I settled with a Heavy Metal band playing drums. The music was along the lines of Merciful Fate. We recorded a couple of tracks that I may or may not make available someday.

Here are pictures from my short period of guitar song writing days in 1995/1996. Some of these songs have been resurrected for The "Dimthingshineon" 2007 CD release called: "Diary Of A Dying Man" available on Thingsflux Music label.
