Many people ask me upon reading a bit of this if I think its actually what will happen in the US. My answer is a vague and shaky no. I do believe that the underlying trends of the book exist but I feel I'm blowing them out of proportion for dramatic effect. However, I won't deny that this scenario or a similar one is possible.
I came up with the idea while I was living in Washington DC. I had come across Joel Garreau's The Nine Nations of North America Mr. Garreau's thesis is that there are nine cultural units that cross political boundaries in North America.
