ife continues to go on here at the Waldorf household.

We've had a boarder for the last week or so -- the daughter of our Buffalo friends has been staying with us. She's been no trouble at all -- in fact, she's been a big help with the Little One, as well as the cooking and cleaning, believe it or not -- but it has disrupted our routine.  That's probably not a bad thing -- we have six episodes of "General Hospital" waiting for us on the Tivo, for example -- it's just different.  And I'm glad we could help them out by letting her start school out here (which she really seems to be enjoying).

This weekend, we went to visit my grandmother.  I probably haven't mentioned her much here, which is an absolute shame, because she is an absolute treasure of a human being.  In some ways, she reminds me of Marie from "Everybody Loves Raymond" -- my dad said that when he called her, she said she wouldn't be cooking anything.  My mother countered that it meant there would only be three entrees and three desserts there.

She was off by one dessert.

There were four of them.

But besides her culinary abilities, my grandma has to be one of the coolest grandmas in the world.  She's a big baseball fan, which must be part of what got me so involved, even though my dad isn't so big on it.  She still travels a lot, even though she's about 80 now -- we even got her to go with the rest of my family to the beach with us this summer.  And she is the garage sale queen, something else that must've rubbed off on me.  Every time we go up to her house, she has another cool toy she found for her great-grandson, usually for $0.25 or so.  This time, there was a musical keyboard that played "Old MacDonald" and a bunch of other songs, complete with animal sounds.  I think her "adult" grandchildren played with it more than the Little One did.

Oh, and while we were all gathered there, eating ourselves silly and acting even sillier, we broke the news.

The Little One isn't going to be the littlest one anymore.

We're expecting next May.

I haven't told anyone at work, and probably won't until I have to request time off for when the baby is due, but somehow I think our entire church knows.  One guy came up to me today and asked if my wife was expecting.  When I nodded, he said, "Is she having twins?"

I responded with, "If she is, I haven't heard anything yet..."  She hasn't even been to the doctor yet, although she has passed not one, but two home pregnancy tests.  But that's not the first time the topic of twins has come up.  That's kind of frightening, but all in all, it probably wouldn't be bad (of course, I'm not the one who would be carrying them).  Unless it ended up being twin boys.  In that case, in my wife's words...

"If I have three boys, I'm taking the bridge."
