The Meaning Of Life, The Universe, And Everything

Death's view Yeah yeah, if you've been paying any attention, you would have realized that Destruction's little commentary came first..and if you were really paying attention, you'd have remembered that I was first in the beginning, so thhbbppt! (besides, i'm sure everyone gets soo tired after reading her stuff that they don't bother with Doom's or mine *tsk*)

Yes, I'm back *evil laughter* what? you want to hear my opinion? *gasp* unbelieveable... Now what would Death have to say about Life? hmm...there is death in life and life in death.. all depends on attitude. Again, if you were paying attention.. you would have remembered that I once had my bit on Life before the "fall" from grace I had... of course, I could save a lot of time and merely cut and paste the damn thing back again.. but what the hell... my mind needs a bit of exercise anyway.

Meaning of life...hmm.. in my previous version, I was talking about discovering the self.. now that's all fine and dandy, but then destruction made hers.. and it sounded exactly the same except with the god stuff thrown in.. of, course, in my religion that's sacrilege *chuckle* So, I change.. you really don't need two people telling you essentially the same thing anyway.

Ok, ok..I've procrastinated enough..I can't help it if I love talking to you *batting eyelashes*

Er..nevermind that. Meaning of life..meaning of life.. and what would that be? The pursuit of happiness perhaps? Finding love (wherever they may be.. even Canada *grumble*)? Finding yourself..? Discovering whether there is a god or not and does he care? Why does Donald Duck not wear any pants? Who thinks up all those stupid commercial ditties anyway? Will we ever beat the light barrier and will there ever be a meat substitute that doesn't taste like cardboard?

Sorry.. did it again. I can't help it *chuckle*

Ok.. Now this if for real....

THE MEANING OF LIFE IS....

...I haven't the foggiest idea. Who cares anyway?

Destruction's View...

Change is the breath of life, and growth the force that moves all things. Religions vary in form and substance, but, as I've said before, all seek perfection in one way or another...union with God, the soul, the Self. Within us all is a spark of the divine, a possibility of the infinite, which we strive to reach through simple human instinct, one way or another. We begin life as infants, but as time progresses we develop, differentiate, become distinct, adult individuals. What occurs physically and mentally also occurs emotionally and spiritually.

Life is not a one-shot, straight linear path leading from one goal (birth) to another (death, followed by an end of one sort or another). Nor is it an endless circle, a rut in which we are stuck and must escape. Rather, see life as a spiral, a many-branching endless path in which the journey is a dance and the path a celebration... We are here to grow. The answer lies within, in our own growth and individuation. The Self must not be conquered, but embraced and loved. As we spiral upwards, we approach our own personal nirvana...in which the apex is infinity, and just the beginning...

All is connected in one vast Indra's web of being. Whatever touches one strand touches all...sending out vibrations of good or bad that resonate throughout the web. The ends and means merge into one seamless fabric in which cause and effect cannot be separated... for every effect is in fact a cause of something else. And every action, as science tells us, does indeed produce an equal and opposite reaction, as intentions are reflected back across the curved mirror of space...thus, send out good, and you will receive good, send out negativity, and so shall you receive. "As above, so below"...the macrocosm mirrors the microcosm, so the web is within as well. The soul touches eternity, and vice versa.

Thus...the meaning of life...in short, oneself. You are the reason for your existence; you do not strive for a literal, external heaven or for the escape of some hell, but only to create heaven within. When you love yourself, you are raising your voice in praise to whatever God or Goddess you choose ...by realizing and revering the one within. When you come to know yourself, you touch the infinite. When you grow, you reach for the stars.

> Cynicism's View...

There seems to be this silly notion running rampant around the world that we must strive to learn the meaning of life. Well, you know what... I just happen to know the answer to that one. And yes, I am restraining myself from screaming 42 into your little ears. Really? You seriously want to hear my answer to this pithy little question? I'm surprised that you haven't figured it out already. Now, now, don't think about clicking on the 'back' button. You've got to hear what I've got to say. Ready? I'll give you some breathing time so you can work yourself up to this. Take a deep breath. In, in, in.

THERE IS NO MEANING TO OUR SORRY EXISTENCES!

Okay, now breathe out. You expected that answer...right? If not, then I want to congratulate you for being stupid. While you sat here and listened to Death, Destruction (especially her, she likes to lecture, doesn't she?!), and Doom, you were fed silly nonsensical notions about what they interpreted the whole point of the meaning of the life to be. Well, I don't feel I have to interpret the meaning of life. Why should our pointless lives have meaning? We are born, we grow up to our adult forms, we reproduce, and we die. It's as simple as that. It seems that someone out there...yeah, you probably think I mean you...I'll let you 'interpret' that one...thinks that there should be a meaning to their time spent here on this nasty mix of gases we call a planet. And you want to know why they need this profound wisdom, hogwash, bullshit, knowledge, prophecy??? They don't have direction and therefore, they desire to have it. Life is fated for them. They expect to have someone point them somewhere and say 'This is your stop buddy. Take a left on Choice Street, walk a mile down Fate Road, a right at Destiny, and spit on the Gates of Hell (had to make one religious reference somewhere) and then stop for Judgment. That's the great part. After they have conducted their supposed 'purposes', they have to be judged. Pretty sick stuff, eh? Ready the chaise sofa, pull out the notepad, and analyze this, Freud! Of course, some of these people need a little push to keep them happy in life. Otherwise, and I cringe when I say this, their lives would be meaningless. Have you figured out what I'm saying yet? No? Good. People create meaning for themselves when they strive to solve the great mystery.

(add echo here) THE MYSTERY OF LIFE...LIFE...LIFE...life.

Eventually, I'll find reason to get to the point. Let me lead you on a bit further. I promise...it won't be long now. Back to the echo thing, people are unhappy little critters. If you don't have direction, then you get bored and you waste away. A lot of people don't find that direction on their own. They have to resort to letting people find that direction for them. Religion..you know, that bloated monster that swallows people up and refuses to belch them out unless they really mean to escape... (you understand! Congratulations) That's a direction! Tada! A bing a bang a boom. Drugs... uh oh...I see a direction alert. Of course, drugs are initially a direction that later turns into a large congested city freeway system...you lose that direction...this is the escape direction for dumb people. Well, back to the former, religion is a solid outlook for its followers. You get brainwashed into believing that you will be forgiven for everything you do wrong...(well, not all religions..I like the whole karma thing...do something bad and you're a slug in your next life) Tres tres Christian. Turn on the telly and you'll see all sorts of born agains who after killing five people with a pick axe, torching a hyundai, whizzing on the pope, and screwing anything that moves, will claim to have found the MEANING OF LIFE and that it is with GOD...and they have been FORGIVEN. Well, bless my soul! There it is. It's sad. I wish I could do that and feel better about myself in the end. Cuz, I found RELIGION! No, don't think that about me. I'm not bitter. I've gotten to the point now. After all this dribble too, eh? The whole point behind the meaning of life is that it is whatever the hell you want it to be. Because, there really is no meaning, but if you want to think there is, then, all the more power to you. Because, whatever makes you happy makes YOU happy.

                                                                            It's 42.
