I've had just about enough of the hypocritical Christians. I'm certainly not talking about all Christians, just the ones that make a show out of going to church and then practice something else the second they leave the church.
I work with people like this, and I went to church along side them for years. These are the people who go to church because it makes them look good. They dress up their children in the finest clothes, shine their shoes, and parade off to church. They put their children in Sunday School because it's 'good training'. They drop their $5 in the collection plate and feel like they've done their part for the week.
The second they collect their children, wrap themselves back up in their furs, jump into their expensive cars, and leave the church, they revert back to the shallow plastic yuppie life that they love so much. They don't give to charities, they don't bring in perishable food items for the Food Drive their company is sponsoring during the holidays, and they stand around the water cooler telling jokes that degrade other races, other religions, or other genders.
That is certainly not the Christian attitude that they are encouraged to adopt in church.
I'm only describing the casual harmless Christian. I don't want to even talk about the extremists who, in the name of God, condone the butchering of doctors who uphold the constitutional right of women to choose whether they will bear children or not. I'm just speaking of the people who have their children properly trained in church but then forget that their children look to them as models of how we should live. You can take your children to Sunday School every week, but they will always act as their parents teach them to. If the parents are bigoted, selfish, and pompous...then so will their children be. No Sunday School teacher can erase hatred taught by these casual Sunday Christians.
