I'm in TUNE! (are you?)
If you've gotten to this page then you have probably figured out that i am "lyrically minded" which means that I'm on of those people who REALLY listen to the words and ususaly find some way of identifying with them. Instead of filling my pages with bits of lyrics that i think about when I'm working on my page. I thought i would make this seperate page with all the lyrics on it, kind of like... a footnote! *smile*
Since i do have you here (which i am greatful for by the way) I thought somewhere in here I would put down a few lyrics simply for the sake that i would like to tell you what they mean to me. So come back often!!! Anyway... The lyrics with links are directly related to some of the things on my page, and of course i'm not one to miss an opportunity to see myself in writing... so i will probably put a few words/explination/insight after each lyrical quote.
Enjoy!!
P.S. Check out my Lyrics for All Occasions page! :)
I've been burned
I've been cheated
But this old Heart is still beating
Ain't no big deal, its just Whiskey Under the Bridge
This is a song by a country group called Brooks & Dunn. And as you can see, it is pretty self explanitory. We've all been burned, cheated, abused, mistreated, and the best thing we can do for ourselves is to just let it go. Now, i know that is hard, HELL sometimes it takes me.. *thinking* Ohhh a few years or more to let some things go, but eventually I do. And it is much better to let that preverbial whiskey flow under the bridge, because you never know when you may need to cross that bridge again, and you sure as hell can't do it if you let it get washed away!!!!
You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. Inbeween
I don't know who did this song first, but I heard it on my Andrew Sisters Box Set. *yes, i listen to them too* and the whole song is one of those... I'm so happy, blah blah blah kind of songs, but it never fails to put a smile on my face. I've found in life that if we continually focus on the negative in our lives we DO NOT have much of a life at all. It is very easy to get bogged down by the bad things that happen to us *and believe you me, i've had some doosies!* but I really try to put them in perspective, again.. this may take one.. or.. say.. seven years, but eventually you are gonna have to come to terms with the things in your past, present, and future. Life your life, enjoy the good things that come along, and learn from those that aren't so good.
I've been looking so long at these pictures of you that i almost believe that they're real.
I've been living so long with these pictures of you, that i almost believe that the pictures are all I can feel
This song is by the Cure from their Disentigration album. When i actually sat down and listened to this song, it seemed so sad. When you are in a long distance relationship *cyber or otherwise* you find yourself gazing at those pictures, memorizing every last detail, seeing yourself in the picture. And even after the relationship is over, those pictures are still burned into your heart and soul. This is an excelent song!
It's these changes in latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
Nothing seems quite the same
With all of our running, And all of our cunning
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane.
This is a song by Jimmy Buffett. I LOVE JB, I am a born-again parrot head. My Dad used to listen to JB all the time, and back then, i didn't like him, but I think it was because I didn't understand the music. Now I do. Jimmy Buffett Lyrics remind me of the tropics, of peaceful easy feelings, of sailing away from our worries and cares. This particular lyric is great because I think that it shows that if you make the choice to CHANGE.. things will CHANGE. Change can be good or bad, but change is inevitable. It also just reminds us that we shouldn't take everything so damn seriously, there is joy and laughter out there, and if we can't laugh at ourselves, well, we will go insane. :)
