Officials at Dynamix revealed today one of the new mission types being added to Tribes 2, the soon-to-be-released sequel to the online gaming hit. In an exclusive interview with TFN, Dave Georgeson provided details about the new gameplay. "Everyone that isn't living under a rock or downloading pr0n knows about the new hit TV show, 'Survivor'," began Georgeson. "This thing has become such a cultural touchstone that we've decided to incorporate what we're calling 'Reality Tribes'." The Survivor mission type is an extension of the well-known Capture The Flag games. Tribal teams will compete to invade the other's base and capture their flag. Following cues from the TV show of the same name, Survivor has renamed the ubiquitous Blood Eagle and Diamond Sword tribes to Pagong and Tagi. "First," said an obviously excited Georgeson, "there will be cameras everywhere. Anyone that's in observer mode will be able to view from one of the fixed cameras, or watch the third-person view of a particular tribe member. But tribers will have to know that everything they do is being watched by somebody." Georgeson continued, "Then we've added the tribal council thing. After every flag cap, the defensive team, you know, the ones that had their flag capped, well they have to hold a tribal council and vote one of their players out of play and into observer mode. We're thinking about making the tribe member with the lowest score immune from the vote." Apparently the inventory and ammo stations are to be removed for the Survivor missions. "Yes, we also want to mirror the rationing and gathering the TV folks have to do," said Georgeson. "So instead of just loading up on everything from a station, tribe members will have to forage for ammo and deployables, much like in DeathMatch missions." Asked about the current CTF capture limits (some maps have 5, some 8), Georgeson said, "Yeah, we thought of that. If a team makes the map cap total, then the game is over and that tribe is victorious. If one tribe loses all its members, the game is over and the other tribe wins. But what we're hoping is for good balance, and then you'll end up with a one-on-one final conflict capfest. Whoever makes the final cap gets ONE MEELYUN POINTS!" Georgeson turned away, taking time to study posters of Jenna and Colleen in their bikinis before continuing. "We're still working out some of the details, so we encourage the community to visit the forums and let us know what they think, and give us game balance ideas. But I gotta tell ya," he said with a mischevious look in his eyes, "the new armors for this mission type totally rock!"
