Sierra Eliminates Tribes 2 Patches

Sierra, after evaluating feedback from their community of gamers, has decided to eliminate Patches from the Tribes 2 product. Alex Rodberg, Sierra's brand manager for Tribes 2, said, "We have a dedicated community. We're doing our best to try to make them happy. And what we're hearing is, no more Patches."

However happy this move makes the vocal community of gamers, Patches the Clown took the news badly. "I put my heart and soul into Tribes 2, and this is how they treat me," said an angry Patches. "A bunch of whiners start complaining, and next thing you know, I've got all my clown props in a box and I'm being escorted out the front door."

Present and former developers were also caught by surprise. "Patches was a key part of the development process," said Dave Meddish. "Some of those taunt animations are all him, just minus the red nose. I can't believe Sierra would let him go like that just to appease the fans." Tim Overman added, "Dude, that's pretty low. Those pie fights with Patches at Dynamix were always a good stress reliever."

Some community members were unrepentant. "Patches screwed up the Shrike, man," said bi0f33db4ck. "That's just wrong. I'm happy there won't be any more Patches." Agreeing, lAvAlEgs added, "That vehicle teleport thing was the last straw. Good riddance!"

As he blew his nose loudly into an oversized hanky, Patches considered his options. "I don't have much choice now," he said. "I guess it's back to doing birthday parties again."
