Tribes 2 was the undisputed winner at the 74th annual Academy Awards, walking away with an unprecedented number of the golden statuettes. "This is great! Thank you, thank you, thank you," said Sierra Brand Manager Alex "Marweas" Rodberg on one of his many trips to the podium. "I'm so honored, and I thank the Academy for making Tribes 2 the vessel through which the online teamplay genre may flow." Best Picture, Best Director (Ron Howard), and Best Adapted Screenplay went to "A Beautiful Mine," an inspirational story about a mathematical genius and his struggle with mental illness while trying to defend his base with patterns of mines. Best Cinematography, Makeup, Musical Score, and Visual Effects awards were bestowed upon "Lord of the Pings," an epic tale of a would-be hero on a dialup connection that endures trials and tribulations on his quest to achieve the broadband of the ancients. Best Actor was awarded to Denzel Washington for his portrayal of a corrupt yet efficient veteran breaking in a tribal newblood in "Training Day." Best Actress went to Halle Berry for "Monsters Ball," a film showing racist, xenophobic humans coming to terms with a Bioderm outsider, a race they've hated all their lives. "Black Hawk Down" only garnered awards for Film Editing and Sound. A favorite of many tribesplayers, this film name was inspired by the Blood Eagle tribal logo, and is based on the true story of a group of Blood Eagles caught in hostile territory when their transport was shot down. In other Oscar-related news, women's fashion once again stood out on the red carpet. Jennifer Lopez was conspicuously fully dressed this year, while Gwyneth Paltrow apparently forgot her top. Cameron Diaz wore the throw from her grandma's sofa. And, whoa! Kirsten Dunst is all grown up!
