Sierra Unveils New Faster Tribes

Sierra has announced Tribes Fast Attack, the newest member of the popular Tribes family of online games. Tribes Fast Attack, scheduled for a fall 2002 release, offers new features, including a single player story-driven campaign, as well as Tribes' established team-based online gaming.

While similar to Tribes 2, Tribes Fast Attack promises to deliver the faster and more frenetic action found in the original Starsiege:Tribes and the popular Tribes 2 "base++" modification. According to Alex "Marweas" Rodberg, Tribes product brand manager, the release will contain new maps, redesigned vehicles, and gameplay tweaks (including enhanced skiing) intended for faster gameplay with smaller teams.

"Today's on-the-go gamer doesn't have time to capture the flag using the slow, old-fashioned way," explained Rodberg. "Using the patented 'Fast Attack' technology, these gamers will get more caps and faster games in less time. Instead of the marathon games and somewhat slower individual player action in Tribes 2, Tribes Fast Attack will allow you to get in a quick game between classes or while your Pop Tart is heating up."

Rodberg continued, "There won't be any loss in visual effects, performance, or connectivity. In fact, this new game will most likely allow gamers to perfect and improve the skills they've already developed in existing Tribes and Tribes 2. With quicker action, Tribes Fast Attack will be to capping what the microwave oven is to cooking."
