Here are some shots of the DL&W's Hanover/Newport branch trestle. The Hanover/ Newport branch connected the DL&W's Bloomsburg main line to coal mining operations in Hanover and Newport Township. The terminus of the line was near the Concrete City. The line served the Loomis Colliery, the Bliss Colliery and the Truesdale Colliery. The trestle is located in the Plymouth flats. I must have walked 7 miles that day to get to that trestle. I could not find any way to get to it on the Hanover side. The unique thing about the bridge is the power distribution towers on top of the trusses. The bridge is of pinned construction. Pins held the larger members in place. This was done to make assembly of pre-fab sections easier in the field.
