Guidelines for the Thread Crochet Swap
I've tried to consider the suggestions I've received and come up with something that is fair.
1. Threads- the consensus is that #30 is the largest size, with the finer threads being preferred, since the "Victorian" look is what we are often trying to achieve.
2. Motifs- up to 6" or 7" diameter - or the equivalent if you are making little flowers, butterflies etc. Just use your own good judgement.
3. Laces and trims- less than 3" is not all that usable, so the preference would be for 4" to 8" pieces of say 1" or wider lace or trim. Again, you judge according to the piece you are making. If it is quite wide you may want to make just 4" or 5" and if it is narrow you may want to make it longer.
4. Swap as many pieces as you want, but don't burn yourself out: up to 10 pieces (or the equivalent) seems reasonable.
5. Place each of your pieces or the equivalent of one piece in a separate baggie. It has been suggested that we include the pattern, too. Great idea, but not required. If we have the pattern, we can make a dozen more if we just can't live without them.:-)
6. We have some beginning crocheters interested in the swap. Hopefully, those of us who are very experienced will enjoy receiving their pieces, too. After this swap, the beginner's may be experts, too.
7. Please put your address in each baggie and MY address on the outside of each baggie. Just in case your envelope comes open in the mail. Include your e-mail address if you like.
8. Put your baggies (1-10) in a sturdy envelope and mail to me. Include a SASE with enough postage for me to return your goodies to you.
9.Deadline to mail to ME (address to follow at a later date) is January 10,1998. This is a little far off, but with everyone so busy from now thru the rest of the year, I wanted everyone to have plenty of time. E-mail me when you put it in the mail, so I can be looking for it. I will let you know when your goodies arrive. I will do the swap as soon as they are all received.
10. Lets have fun. The other swaps that I've joined have been very fair over-all and I'm sure that this great group with do the same.
If this is all as clear as mud, just let me know and I will try to clear it up.
This message is going out to all who have expressed the desire to know more about the swap. So, it would help me, if all who decide to take part would send me a note to confirm that you are still interested. That will be your "official" sign-up. At some point, I will post a list of the members of the swap to the whole list-just in case something prevents me from receiving your note.
Happy crocheting,
