DEADLINE to mail your fabric package: March 31, 1998.
As soon as all the packages are received, I will humbly ask for my Katie the Kat's assistance in swapping the packets. When she allows (after she's been fed, groomed, and worshipped sufficiently) I will mail them back to you.
Step by step instructions for a successful swap:
1a. Prepare up to 15 plastic baggies of fabric. The fabric square should be a minimum of 9" x 9", no pieces smaller than 6x6 or 5x9 please. (So that means you can put one 9x9, or pieces that add up to that)
Cottons are certainly acceptable, with the primary requirement that they are cat related. I have never seen a fancy fabric with cat images on them. If you have, please let me know! If someone wants to be creative, and do the stamping on velvet, or has some other way to turn a fancy fabric into a "cat" fabric, I'd encourage you to do so!
For this swap we'll be doing only the domestic variety of cats. If you are interested in wild cats, please contact me privately, and I will put you in touch with the other people also interested in wild cats.
1b. Include one of the following:
A cat theme charm, button, or bead. (my thoughts here are not only cat likenesses, but other things cats are interested in, ie fish, bugs, mice, etc).
*****OR*****
About 3 yards of a nice fiber (no plain DMC type floss)
****OR****
Two dozen seed beads or other embellishments.
So that means each baggie would have the equivalent of 81 square inches of fabric (however you achieve that) as described in 1A, and one embellishment item (from the catagories in 1B)
2. Put a slip of paper (or some other medium) with YOUR name on the inside of each bag.
3. Tape MY name and address on the outside of each bag. (Just in case the package gets opened in the mail....)
4. Get 2 (two) mailers, about 10" x 13" Cardboard, Padded, or Priority Mail nvelopes. *The priority mail envelopes are heavily preferred.* If you use another type of mailer, please be sure that the return package has enough postage.
5. Put YOUR address on one mailer and MY address on the other.
6. Put all outgoing fabric packages in MY mailer. Have the Post Office weigh BOTH my mailer and your mailer together. Put this amount of postage on BOTH mailers. Fold YOUR mailer and put it inside MY mailer with the goody bags.
7. Mail MY mailer. E-mail me at dstark@frontiernet.net to let me know to expect it.
8. The deadline to mail your goodies is March 31st.
9. Wait for goodies to wend their way to YOUR door around the first week of April -- after I've had a chance to receive all those envelopes, and get the stuff sorted!
Please include on the note with your name: The type of fabric and it's content (if known). Whether the fabric is washable (and if it's been washed.) Whether the fabric is new -- or a great re-sale find!
