Shore Swap Guidelines
This is an all cotton swap. The theme began as an All Cotton Ocean Swap but we thought it would be fun to open it up a bit more and include anything from the “shore”. Let your imagainations go and have fun!!! This is not a coordinated swap. Please feel free to share ideas!!!Ocean Shore, Sea Shore, Lake Shore. This is your swap so you determine what you will send.
GUIDELINES:
Sign up by emailing me by June 1, 1998
Deadline for mailing to me is June 12, 1998. Make a note and mail them
out by the 10th.
Packages will be mailed back by June 22, 1998. Any situation deemed an act of God may alter this but as first time hostess I do not anticipate any.
You may send up to 15 baggies. Each baggie must have a slip of paper that has your name, address, and email address. Place them in one LARGE baggie with my name and address on the outside (just in case your package gets opened).
POSTAGE: Use 2 Priority Mail Tyvek envelopes from the post office. Put thesame amount postage on BOTH envelopes. Address one to yourself and place it inside the other envelope along with your baggies. Donesn’t have to be priority!.
BAGGY CONTENTS: Each baggie should have the equivalent of a 12 x 12 inch of cotton fabric and 3 different embellishments.
1. Material:
Equal to one 12 inch square. This can be two 6 by 12 inch pieces, or four 6
inch pieces, or one 12 inch piece.
Here's some ideas for the Shore Theme:
Fish, Shore Birds, Beautiful Solids that reflect water and sand,
Lighthouses, Grasses, Batiks, Undersea Life, Coastlines, boats, ...and so
on. I will keep all updated on new ideas I receive.
2. Embellishments:
Threads: 1 yard of thread or yarn. No DMC floss.
Beads: 2-12 depending on their size. No SEED Beads
Motifs: Machine embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery, or material with a
transfer on it, crochet, tatting etc. Please be sure that it has a backing
on it, or whatever it is you do, so the recipient only has to add it to her
block.
Laces: 1/2 yards for small widths and 12" for larger widths.
Buttons: 1-6 depending on the size with a Shore Theme.
Charms: 1-3 depending on the size.
Ribbon: Silk or satin send 1 to 2 yards. Wide ribbon send 18" .
Misc. Trims: cording, leather, conchos, sequins, etc. use your judgement.
INTERNATIONAL SWAPPERS: It is important to mark on your parcels "USED FABRIC- UNDER $15" IS IMPORTANT. The value of $15 was not an arbitrary figure chosen. With the exchange rate so high(1.4049) anything over $15 will translate to a figure close to or over $40 Canadian and will require attention from Customs. This will result in duty tax and a handling fee being charged.
