FANCY CHRISTMAS SWAP GUIDELINES

This is a coordinated, all FANCY fabric swap. There are some absolutely gorgeous fancy christmas fabrics this year and this will be a goo way for us to really get a good variety in our stashes. Lighten up and just let this be fun. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions at all!

GUIDELINES:

Sign up by emailing me that your package is in the mail, so I can watch for it. Since this swap won't be in time for our really using it in a project for this year, I thought that a deadline of Dec. 15 might be good and I'll mail out in the next day or two and you'll have a heck of a great Christmas present! You may send up to 16 baggies. Please, no more than 4 can be the same. Each baggie must have a slip of paper that has your name, address, and email address inside, and my name, address, and e-mail address on the outside. This is in case the package is accidentally opened in transit.

POSTAGE: Use 2 Priority Mail Tyvek envelopes from the post office (If you ask, they will give these to you.) Put the regular $3.00 priority postage on each envelope. (Do not have your return envelope metered--use a stamp.) This will take care of any weight varience. Address one to yourself and place it inside the other envelope along with your baggies. Please note on the outside of each envelope (maybe in a lower corner or something), how many baggies is in your package, so I'll be sure to get the same number back to you.

BAGGY CONTENTS: Each baggie should have the equivalent of a 12 x 12 inch fancy fabric (any fiber content is OK as long as it's washable) and 3 different embellishments.

1. Fabric: Equal to one 12 inch square. This can be two 6 by 12 inch pieces, or four 6 inch pieces, or one 12 inch piece.

2. Embellishments: Pick 3 of the groups of embellishments listed below

Threads: 2 different threads: 1 yard each. No DMC floss. Please put these on a piece of poster board or something and identify the kind of thread, solor number or whatever, in case the recepient wants to get more of it.

Beads and/or sequins: 2-12 depending on their size; more if you're sending seed beads.

Motifs: Machine embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery, crochet, tatting, embossed velvet, etc. Please be sure that it has a backing on it, like "wonder-under", on whatever it is you do, so the recipient only has to add it to her block.

Laces: 1/2 yards for small widths and 12" for larger widths. Buttons: 1-6 depending on the size.

Charms: 1-3 depending on the size.

Ribbon: narrow to medium width ribbon send 1 to 2 yards. Wide ribbon send 12" - 18".

Misc. Trims: cording, leather, conchos, sequins, strange plastic bugs, etc. use your judgement.

INTERNATIONAL SWAPPERS: It is important to mark on your parcels "USED FABRIC- UNDER $15". The value of $15 was not an arbitrary figure chosen. With the exchange rate so high (1.4049), anything over $15 will translate to a figure close to or over $40 Canadian and will require attention from Customs. This will result in duty tax and a handling fee being charged. Also remember that you need to send your swaps in a little earlier, so I'll get them in time.

FINAL NOTE: Keep everything Christmas-related and fun! Pack your baggies with the "golden rule" in mind. Please e-mail me when you send your package, so that I can make a note and watch for it.

My address: Terry Hajduk, 2231 Richards Rd., Augusta, GA 30906

This should really be a terrific swap, according to all the beautiful fabrics and embellishments I've seen already, and it isn't even Halloween yet. You have plenty of time to get your swap together, and this might be a good opportunity to enter your secret CQ pal in this. If you decide to do this (secretCQ thing), please let me know so I can change your baggie insert and disguise your ID. However, although I haven't heard any more about it, we are supposed to reveal our identities at Christmas, soooo.... Anyway, Go for it! This is one I'm really going to have fun with. I've already started buying stuff for this, and can hardly wait. Any questions or suggestions--don't hesitate to e-mail,

Hugs, Terry
