My other favourite car in CODEMASTER's game, TOCA Touring Car Championship, is the AUDI A4 Quattro. AUDI dominated the 1996 BTCC to such end, that weight penalties were introduced. Being the only 4WD car in TOCA TCC, its handling tends to get overlooked as a popular mount but I find that it can be quite competitve if driven correctly. Keeping revs up is important, to counter its seeming lack of acceleration due to it being heavier than the rest, but the 4WD traction is great in the wet or on tight circuits. It is the car I am using in my current Championship bid; progress of which is listed below....

Season Summary

Things got off to a great start for the Audi team, with a clean sweep in Rounds 1 & 2 at Donington GP circuit. For Rounds 3 & 4, the rain caused some problems at Silverstone, with a disappointing 5th in the first heat, followed by an improved 2nd place in the second.

Audi bounced back on top with a pair of clean sweeps of first places in Rounds 5 & 6 at Thruxton and Rounds 7 & 8 at Brands. Then came a struggle to find form at Oulton Park in Rounds 9 & 10, where Audi only managed a 2nd and 4th while the Renault of Alain Menu swept to the front of the Championship.

More disappointment followed for Rounds 11 & 12 in the rain at Donington Short circuit with mid-field finishes in 8th and 7th not adding a lot to the now flagging Audi points total, which left both the Renaults ahead.

Croft brought mixed fortunes, as the Audi won convincingly in Round 13 but came home battered after Round 14 in 6th after dropping back as far as 14th place, after a first corner pile-up that saw Tarquini's Honda out of the race.

Knockhill and Rounds 15 &16 saw a return to form for Audi as it won both heats and finished the day 2nd in the Championship behind Menu, splitting the 2 Renaults on the leader board.
