SCORPION STUDIOS PRESENT

Brian's FST Page

Visit The Visual File Archives!
Over the years I've collected MANY .fsd files, and have decided to display them in a visual format, grouped according to era and country of origin, etc. If you are looking for a particular aircraft shape, or just want to see what's out there, check the galleries to see what I have. Here you will find my own shapes as well as those of other talented FST designers. All shapes are available on request. More galleries are planned for inclusion soon.

My FST Projects

I try to refrain from using the word "simulation" as that implies more purpose than my projects tend to warrant. As I enjoy building 3D virtual worlds and 3D objects, my current projects are inclined to be more excuses to tear around in a variety of aircraft that I find interesting than to simulate any specific kind of combat environment. Click on the titles to go to...

AVIATION'S GOLDEN AGE. (under construction but screen shots available) Classic civil and military aircraft from the 1930's in a rural and semi-urbanised setting. Planes include the GeeBee R2, Travelair Mystery Ship, DC-2, Boeing P26 "Peashooter", Northrop Alpha as well as Lockheed Vega, Orion, Air Express, Sirius, Altair and Electra, among others.

FANTASY ISLAND. (in planning). Basically this is my attempt to put all eggs in one basket - the idea is for a series of islands, each of which features a different theme...
The main island is a resort with a commercial airport that handles small civil aircraft and jetliners, palm trhe main islandees, Easter Island statue heads (go back and read the title again, yeah?) a volcano etc etc.. linked by air to other islands, like...
Hoke Island which has Hohlenkamp Naval Air Station and museum, where you can see the USS Yorktown beside the USS Olympia, and famous USN warbirds on display.
On another island,
Pearson Air Force Base hosts jet fighters and transports, and the on site air museum has WW2 warbirds in both static and flying displays.
Kwanopolis is a major metropolitan center with a multi-runway airport hosting big jets and the city skyline across the bay feautures skyscrapers and monorail trains.
An as yet un-named island will be home to the Spaceport where shuttles and heavy lift rockets operate. The static displays there will feature famous rockets and aircraft such as the NASA lifting bodies, X-15, X-1, Saturn V...
Get the idea? Sort of all things rolled into one..plus about the land and sea areas will be any weird and wonderful stuff we can think up for people to discover, such as the Titanic, the Flying Dutchman, Sea Serpents, Captain Nemo's Nautilus, Moby Dick, Stonehenge, flying pteradactyls and dragons, witches on broom sticks, Dinosaurs, Snow White's castle, the lost city of Atlantis, the SS Minnow wrecked on a beach, the USS Enterprise from Star Trek.. get the idea? Go back and read the TITLE again, yeah? Perhaps I'll even put in Tracy Island and have the Thunderbirds from the old Gerry Anderson TV show...

B-35 : FLYING WING. (in planning) Northrop pioneered the concept of a "flying wing" during the 1940's. After WW2 the giant YB-35 Flying Wing took to the skies, but failed to secure interest from the USAF. Re-engined with jet power it became the YB-49 Flying Wing but despite proving the concept originally thought out by Jack K Northrop it failed to attract orders and died a quiet death. Many years later, the B-2 stealth bomber was revealed and guess what? Its a Flying Wing design, made by Northrop. Jack would have liked it. This proposed "sim" is so far just an excuse to tool about in a B-35 from a desert island base - do fly bys, take off and landing practice, bombing practice. Strictly for those who loved Norhtrop's brainchild.

Disclaimer
By offering my shapes to a public forum I accept that they may be used by whom ever for whatever they please, without fear of copyright lawsuits from myself. After all, like I give a stuff what you do with them? But on the other hand, should you use them in a commercial venture that makes megamillions I expect a generous kick-back... or at least having your first born male child named after me! I'm kidding of course....about the kid I mean! Feel free to send all the money you like :) Actually a name in the credits will be fine. Other than that enjoy the files, and if anyone does find them useful, or has any other comments feel free to e-mail me at the address down the page someplace.

Flight Simulator Toolkit was released by DOMARK a few years ago. Without going on at length, its a program that allows the user to build flight sims from the ground up, and I mean everything: the terrain, colours, planes, flight models...you name it! As I am aiming this page at the fellow FST users rather than the uninitiated, best thing to do is check out whats been done with this program by some of the true artists out there. So check out The FST MEGAWEB... From there you can find links to just about every FST page around.

Well..as you might have guessed by now I'm happy doing shapes, as having had CAD experience I find the FST shape editor (bastard that it is) not as daunting as some might. So if there's an aircraft you want done (and my rates are VERY reasonable, I do them for FREE!!!!) why not E-mail me at
