Pat and Diana flip it over

Back in E1 during restriction, Pat misses her cousin and friend and D probably feels the same, but the fights of too many other people are in their way:

It seems like in everyone else's fights they are forced to take sides instead of mending their own fences.

False starts, a note Pat writes which gets shown to M, remarks Pat makes to Brian which get repeated, same thing with M and D, this get misinterpreted. While everyone is mending fences, they are essentially getting nowhere.

A period where they're looking at each other through tears, total breakthru of past year. What brings this on? Ironically, I think it's the Fab 4. Bri and Anne with Pat, the other two with D. What do they say? This is probably the last reconciliation of the whole fall out, and the girls start thinking it's sad to come between the best friends. Maybe that's where it starts.

End up as good friends again, but there's still something different since their co-mingling with the Fab Four, who's not such a concrete foursome anymore.

Anne saw different side of R/M; often sides with B, who she thought sometimes couldn't catch a break. She's the only one somewhat doubtful about M and B impending relationship. Plus the whole black/white thing is starting.

Like it or not, they're more of the Fab six, soon to be five....

Eventually they adjust their friendship in this new way, maybe it's just different, but maybe that's okay
