Separatist Siege In Texas Heart of a Texan Fort Davis, Texas -- Thirteen “Republic of Texas” citizens stand off against 100 state and federal officers. Siege approaching day 5 as secessionists leader’s lawyer delivers “documents of cease- fire.” Is this starting to sound like cable reruns or is the U.S. looking at another Chechnya in the making? If this were happening in any other state than Texas I’d say it’s just another group getting free press when it shouldn’t. We tend to create these scenarios by press exposure. All a group wants is some air time to express their Ideas (for better or worse). When they can’t get the exposure their after, create an incident, magnify the response, take or threaten the public at large, and watch the news crews roll in. We watch the news. We call into the talk shows. We seek more information. We spread the Ideas (for better or worse). We service the group’s plan. (They’ve got a lawyer, that should be a clue.) But this is Texas. I had the honor of living in Texas for eight months. And I do mean honor. Texans are a proud people. They have this attitude that goes something like this: This is today. This is what I have. This is what I believe. This is what I can do with what I have, today, for what I believe. Texans seem to face every day, one day at a time. They face it with pride. They face it with courage. They face it with honor. If I were on the line in a war, I’d want Texans by my side (preferably Marine Corps Texans). They never give up in what they believe. The majority of the state is that way. I don’t know why. Maybe its growing up in the severe weather conditions in Texas. Maybe it’s the lessons in Texas history in grade school (also a very rich and proud history in Texas). What ever it is that makes a Texan different from a New Yorker, it makes him independent. That’s what’s different here. It doesn’t surprise me that Monday, 97/04/28, the state and federal officers had to keep people out. People, Texans, that wanted to join this secessionist group. Support their cause. Believe there is value in the Idea. How many other Texans want to join? Now I know there's probably dozens of para-militaries out there that want to join. But that’s only because of the press or they think it’s a cool idea. They don’t believe. They don’t believe in Texas. Texans believe in Texas with all their hearts. Now if it turns out that these secessionists aren’t Texan, then I’ve wasted your time and I apologize. But if they are, then this deserves your attention. This could lead towards Chechnya. It could change your life. Imagine what would happen if a state legally left the union. the union would demand the state reimburse it of all federally funded assets in the state. The roads, the bridges, the military bases, telecommunication equipment, the education systems, and the list goes on.. and on. Imagine the price tag. Imagine the state, after already leaving the union, saying no. Imagine an union embargo at the state border until, the debt is paid. Imagine Chechnya. As Always - your comments and feed back are welcome. My thoughts to your thoughts. May the Palintar leave them undistorted. May I see you as you see me.
