Beat, Chemical Beats, not Skunk Rock, whatever you want to call it is the new 'big thing' for people in 'the know' but will it be just another Happy Hardcore? I Hope not, 'cos this stuff is my bag man.
Lover's
of this sort of tip, if they are based in the UK really should check out Miss Mary Anne Hobbs' Breeze Block on Radio1, damn it's the reason I piss off my parents and can never wake up in the morning, an hour of; mad beats, mental Drum 'n' Bass, classic and current abbrasive Hip Hop and some smart punkish rantings, serious nosebleed material.
OK
so labelling it all as 'Big Beat' is not quite fair this is a fairly new genre and some great acts which are tottaly different are being labelled under the same Big Beat Mushroom. Simon Lewin, manager of the Fused&Bruised label (check out 'This Is Latinamyl') would prefer to have it as [deep breath]
"agoodfornothingdirtylowslungskunkfunkingphatbeatbreakingsonicscienceaciddroppingfreakishtriphoppunkrocktypeo'shit"
Ok,
so maybe that's a bit drawn out to catch on as a label right? But everyone knows labels suck, and we all hate being pigeonholed, from the Trendies, Metalfreaks, and the Indiekids, they all hate being labelled.
