Indifferent
She sits at his feet,
and hopefully waits
for a sign
that he loves her.
She'd do what ever it takes.
Give him anything he wanted.
Do whatever he thought he needed,
even if it destroys her.
He looks away indifferent
another piece of her heart rips away.
But ever the kicked puppy
she looks up to the master
eyes shining adoration
ready to lick his hand
and forgive.
He friends tell her to leave, he's no good.
That she warms his bed but not his heart.
She smiles,refuses to believe.
once more the martyr bleeds.
Seasons change. She still can't
knock down the wall between them.
Trapped in a spider's web of unlove she can't escape
her soul sickens, and she believes in her worthlessness.
Desolate discontent propels her feet to the water's edge.
The sweet cool water washes away doubt and self-hate.
Everything floats away as she sinks.
He throws a handful of earth, a single white rose,
and sheds a fat tear
finding it easier to cry for the dead than those alive and near
He'll be alone with his true love, himself, forever.
Guilt will destroy him as he did her.
but still indiffrent he doesn't care.
