Sleeping with open windows

Rocked softly on a bed like ocean

sea sick if dizzy

slightly soothed otherwise.

Thoughts flickering

though 157 channels

I listen for thunder trucks

on the road,

and soft fan rain

in the window.

Curled up baby

I sleep cocooned

in blankets even in summer,

safe from the arctic blasts

that threaten

tenuous sleep.
